Ex-Arsenal Striker, Who Was Approached By NFF President, Makes England Debut

Former Arsenal youth-teamer Fejiri Okenabirhie made his international bow for England C Team in their 2-1 victory over Panjab FA at Damson Park, Solihull Moors on Sunday. Okenabirhie was named in the starting lineup along with ex-Stoke City striker of Nigerian descent James Alabi, who was also making his debut. While the Dagenham & Redbridge man put in a full shift, Alabi was replaced with 17 minutes left on the clock. The Chester FC star thought he had won a penalty for England in the 23rd minute but he was booked for simulation, before he provided the assist for the opening goal scored by the Lions in the 34th minute. Okenabirhie was one of the English-based youngsters approached by NFF President Amaju Pinnick to represent the Super Eagles when he traveled to England in 2015. The 21-year-old is hoping to earn his second England cap when they face Jersey on May 30.

13 DEATHS AFTER A VIOLENT STORM SWEPT THROUGH MOSCOW

A violent storm has swept through Moscow, leaving 13 people dead and dozens injured as freak winds toppled hundreds of trees and brought down other structures. “Due to storm winds hitting Moscow, 50 people have asked for medical attention up to now,” a spokesperson for the City Hall’s health department told AFP. “Eleven were fatally injured.” Two more deaths were reported when the investigative committee of the Moscow region said an 11-year-old girl and a 57-year-old man were killed, one by a falling tree and the other by a flying fence. Earlier investigators said the victims were mostly killed by falling trees and structures such as a bus stop. Investigators were looking at the scenes of the accidents and questioning witnesses.

'Bomb violence with mercy': anti-terror ad goes viral in Middle East

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U49nOBFv508 A Ramadan TV ad by a Middle Eastern telecommunications company in which victims of terrorism confront a suicide bomber and urge society to “bomb violence with mercy” has provoked a heated debate in the region, with some praising its attempt to tackle extremism and others criticising it for using victims of bombings and a simplistic portrayal of terrorists.  The three-minute video by Zain, a commercial mobile operator based in Kuwait, went viral over the weekend with some calling for it to be withdrawn, while others praised its tagline of “we will counter their attacks of hatred with songs of love, from now until happiness”. https://youtu.be/U49nOBFv508

nigeria should take needed action,

by godspower o.o Nigerians need to see actions on the ground and not intentions and talk shops. It is the concrete steps that the people see that will rekindle hope and helps the people stand together as a collective to wither this economic storm. The people want to know how the galloping inflation is being handled. They want to see new jobs or a guarantee that the spate of job losses have ceased. They want to see rice, gari, beverages and utilities especially electricity functioning and within their reach. “We urge the government to make the economy work for the poor masses and workers of this nation and stop the present cornering of the national resources by a few greedy individuals thus closing the economic space against the suffering majority. It is only economic programmes that are pro-poor and pro-workers that are capable of driving our nation out of recession because, when these segment of the nation is empowered, purchasing power increases expanding aggregate demands wh

Portland attack: Donald Trump called on to make statement about double murder

Pressure is mounting on the US president, Donald Trump, to make a comment on the racist attack in Portland, Oregon that left two men dead. Taliesin Myrddin Namkai-Meche, 23, and Rick Best, 53, were fatally stabbed on Friday while intervening to stop a racist attack on a Muslim teenager on a commuter train. The pair have been honoured as heroes by Portland’s mayor and the FBI, but the president has remained silent, despite tweeting 10 times on Sunday on topics ranging from healthcare to fake news. Pleas are now mounting on social media for Trump to make a statement on the attack, which was carried out by a suspected white supremacist. Dan Rather, the veteran American journalist, led the charge on Facebook, calling on Trump to acknowledge the “brave Americans who died at the hands of someone who, when all the facts are collected, we may have every right to call a terrorist”.

Trouble in the Senate Yesterday as Senator Ita Enang Reveal that Northerners own 80% of oil blocks

Supporters of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) pushed their case further yesterday at the Senate, with startling facts on the sector. Senator Ita Enang (Akwa Ibom North East) described the opposition to the 10 per cent host community fund by mostly northern senators as “misplaced”. Enang, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules and Business, said that those opposed to the fund should know that over 83 per cent of oil blocks are owned by northerners. But he did not give the number of oil blocks Nigeria has. Senator  David Mark, who seemed to have been shocked by what Enang said, said the Akwa Ibom lawmaker should not be distracted (some senators were grumbling) because he was making an important point.Mark asked Enang whether he could substantiate his claim. Enang promptly pulled out a document from his folder and reeled out oil blocs and their owners. He said he did not intend to divide the country but to guide those who wanted to contribute to the debate to
